UPDATE: June 27th, 2019

What’s new

  • It’s been a busy 10 days since the last update.  Prof David Rogers of our NEG group presented at an incredibly well attended meeting in Brill on 24th June.  There was no doubt about feeling in the very hot room!  Brill managed to get excellent media coverage on BBC South Today and BBC Radio Oxfordshire.  You can see and hear the coverage on our News & Updates page.

Other speakers included Cllr Barry Wood, Chair of the Arc Leaders Group, Cllr Martin Tett, Leader of Bucks County Council, Cllr Angela Macpherson, Leader of Aylesbury Vale District Council and Cllr Cameron Branston, AVDC.

Cllr Martin Tett let it slip that he and AVDC have refused to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with Highways England for the Ox-Cam Expressway project.  We had not previously known NDA’s were being used.  This got considerable coverage on BBC South Today.

We have raised a Freedom of Information request with Highways England to establish which Stakeholders have been asked to sign NDAs, which stakeholders have and when they signed.  It will be interesting to see if any other council has agreed to secrecy in it’s discussions with Highways England.

  • I’m delighted to say that we can now accept donations to support our groups activities and “war chest” on our website click here.  All donations are very welcome!

  • We now have a Facebook NEG page.. where all news and updates are sent.  If you use Facebook, please follow us and share our page and updates with as many people as possible!  Thank you!

  • You can now find presentations NEG have made at events on our website. Scroll down on the Events page to find the old event you’re interested in.

  • BBOWT’s legal challenge to Highways England was in the High Court this week.e await a verdict.

  • Work has continues on our second Expressway Story and a third has been requested… more news soon.

We need your help

No Expressway Group believes there is no need for an Oxford-Cambridge Expressway, nor the over-inflated housing targets associated with it, and we will actively campaign against it and support other organisations with the same objectives.

Our environment is a national asset which is critical for everyone’s health and well-being. We must not let it be destroyed.

Your donations help us to spread information about the Expressway, run and build support for the campaign:

  • £10 could pay for one roadside Correx poster

  • £15 could pay for one roadside poster on a wooden stake

  • £20 could pay for one A1 printed colour poster for our pagoda display

  • £35 could pay for 250 A5 printed leaflets for the campaign

  • £70 could pay for one pole and two panels for our travelling pagoda display

  • £150 could pay for one feather flag for our travelling pagoda

  • £180 could pay to run this website for one year

  • £300 could pay for a 3 minutes of an Expressway Story

  • £500 could pay for a 5 minutes of an Expressway Story

  • A greater or other amount could contribute to the cost of professional support for our campaign in general and in preparation for Planning Inspectorate hearings

Please note:

The No Expressway Group has a group bank account to which the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer are signatories. The group will publish accounts on noexpressway.org each year which will be audited by an accountant from outside the NEG group.

If any funds are left at the end of the campaign, these will be donated equally between RSPB and BBOWT.
